Round up of CIH 2021
The annual three-day conference arrived this week from the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) and we were delighted to have attended the first in-person event following the pandemic.
With more than 6000 people in attendance, CIH 2021 comprised over 250 exhibitors including Homes England, Morgan Sindell, HOMES UK and Kier Places. We also saw a number of keynote speeches from secretary of state, Robert Jenrick, shadow secretary for housing Lucy Powell and minister for housing and planning, Christopher Pincher.
Other sessions from over the three days included networking opportunities with a variety of people from the industry as well as masterclasses and best practice sessions on a number of topics around housing including sustainability, levelling up, development, the retrofit challenge and the state of the housing industry at the minute.
There are a number of important questions around housing at the minute and not only was it great to be meeting with people, face to face, again, it was great to get involved in important conversations. Specifically, the housing and climate crises and how we all need to step up and provide innovative solutions for them. Most of the focus during CIH 2021 we found, centred around how we can improve housing and come up with more innovative solutions to drive change and transform the sector.
