Successful family-run business, Applebee’s, has ventured out from its humble beginnings at Borough Market and landed on London’s South Bank for summer 2019. You’ll find the shipping container bar and fish and chip shop under the Hungerford Bridge at the South Bank Centre (Waterloo), next to the London Eye.

The bespoke shipping container conversion is complemented by a fantastic rope based pergola, where customers can enjoy fish and chips, oysters and Champagne, seafood plates and English craft beers.

Applebee’s on the South Bank is open until September 15th 2019.

ISO Spaces were commissioned to design and construct the shipping container conversion which consists of a bar, catering unit and storage space. The container bar was created using a 40ft shipping container with two fold down deck platforms, whilst both the catering unit and storage space were created using 20ft containers.

Applebee’s is an upmarket fish and chip shop brand; our in-house design team worked closely with the client to ensure the container conversions conveyed this desirable aesthetic. The brand’s RAL colours were used to paint the container profile walls, feature pendant lighting was installed and the serving counters of the bar and catering unit were finished with a wooden cladding.

The storage shipping container retained its bare container profile walls with cold rooms installed into the space for storing food items. Our manufacturing team installed stainless steel counter tops, sinks and industrial-style shelving.

All ISO Spaces’ container conversions offer a plug-and-play solution and meet full UK Building Regulations. Installed by our UK technicians, Applebee’s was connected to the mains electric on site.
