42 Under 42 Social Impact Award for ISO Spaces

42 Under 42 Social Impact Award

The rising stars of South West business came together at Insider‘s 42 under 42 dinner last week (6 July).

Held at the Bristol Hotel, the event celebrated the 42 entrepreneurs profiled in 2017.

Four awards were given out on the night to honour special achievements by 42 under 42 alumni past and present.

The Breakthrough Award, celebrating a breakthrough year, went to Connor Handley-Collins of TruVision VR, which is pioneering the use of virtual reality in architecture.

Ben Treleaven and Gregg Curtis of ISO Spaces won the Social Impact Award. ISO designs and manufactures buildings from recycled shipping containers, which have been used for social housing.

The Entrepreneur Award went to Dr Peter Gradwell, the founder of Gradwell Communications. Bath-based Gradwell was last week sold to a buy-in management buyout (BIMBO) team, providing an exit for private equity investor Altitude Partners. The new management team is led by chief executive Nick Caw and backed by Chiltern Capital. Peter Gradwell will remain with the business following the deal and has retained a significant equity interest.

Samantha Payne, of Open Bionics, which is developing low-cost bionic hands, won the Innovation Award.
